Carolina Vottero

My Story:

My name is Carolina Vottero, I was born in Argentina, in 1975, I am half Argentine and half Italian.

My story as an artist began, perhaps in 1998, when I painted one of my first sunflowers… thinking I was the new Vincent !!! My painting started with pastels and I have explored with watercolours and etchings.

A few years after, in 1999 I came to visit England to learn the language and I stayed with a friendly family as an “au pair” in London. The experience of visiting a different country and sharing different cultures was fascinating. I came back to Argentina thinking the experience of living abroad was just part of my past but I always had that lovely taste and after a few months, I came back to England to start a new life but this time it was by the sea, in the lovely area of Torbay. For me it was the first time I have lived by the sea, and admiring the bay from my own lounge every day makes me feel the luckiest person in the world. Since then, my discovery of seascapes, colours, textures, sunsets and sunrises are inspiring me to paint the world that I can share with you all today.

I enjoy oil painting and fishing…yes, fishing !!! …With my partner, we explore the South Devon coast as often as we can. This allows me to see and discover new settings and this began a great passion painting the land and seascapes in oil on stretched canvas. My free style and use of small palette knifes results in a unique luminosity and texture for my work. Having great reviews I am proud to paint and make people happy with the bold colours and blending I use.
