Claire Frances Smith
"...When I am painting I try to convey some kind of emotion within the subject. I love the extremes of nature, the kind of weather conditions which people dread; storms, high winds, dangerous seas. I like the idea that as humans we are quite insignificant in comparison..."
Born in London, Claire undertook formal training as a children's illustrator, but on moving to Norfolk with her family in 2002 has returned to her first love of fine art painting. Working in oils and mixed media, Claire produces medium to large-scale works that have been purchased by corporate and private collectors worldwide. She has taken part in solo and mixed exhibitions across the country and is represented by several galleries across the UK. Her work is always in demand and attracts audiences from across the country.
Working from a studio in the garden of her house in Norfolk, Claire translates her respect and admiration for the beautiful coastal surroundings onto canvas.
